	We are currently looking to recruit a Managing Quantity Surveyor for the North East Region Your Key Activities: • Maintain effective communications with contracts managers, project management and other associated disciplines. • Assist in staff matters which may include: staff succession awareness, development, competency and retainment. • Provide input to staff performance and development reviews, and management of the commercial training programme. • Provide commercial input to contacts with client’s representatives. • Provide input to risk profiling and management on projects. • Produce and negotiate insurance claims with insurer’s representatives. • Ensure the production of monthly cost and value reports, quarterly forecasts and cash-flow information and present them to senior management. • Take part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy. • Assist in drafting and promote usage of commercial procedures. • Deal with change management including adherence to the programme “established approach”. • Ensure the timely production and presentation of adequate levels of applications for payment in accordance with the provisions of the conditions of contract. • Provide commercial advice to the site team in connection with all project issues and provide input to area commercial discussions and reviews. • Attend and provide input to project start-up and close-out meetings. • Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through contract vetting and input to sub-contract documentation. • Deliver commercial training • Liaise with external consultants. • Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time.

	We are currently looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to work on our ongoing Liverpool Docks upgrade project Your Key Activities include: • Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policy and participate fully in the “Don’t Walk By” initiative. • Maintain effective communication with project management and / or managing / project / senior QS and other associated disciplines. • Assist in staff matters which may include: attitude and behavioural issues, competency and retainment. • Manage, supervise and mentor your “reports” within the commercial structure. • Provide input to junior commercial staff performance and development, including reviews. • Provide commercial input to contacts with client’s representatives. • Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through contract vetting and input to subcontract documents. • Commercial management of subcontractors including processing payments and inputting into dispute resolution. • Monitor cost of site resources. • Produce monthly cost and value reports, quarterly reports and cashflow information and present to senior management. • Take part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy. • Promote usage of Company procedures and suggest improvements to site procedures. • Deal with change management including adherence to the programme ‘established approach’. • Ensure timely production and presentation of adequate levels of applications for payments in accordance with the provision of the conditions of contract. • Provide commercial advice to the site team in connection with all project issues. • Attend and provide input to project start-up and close-out meetings. • Assist with the production of insurance claims. • Manage time and workloads for yourself and any “reports” in a structured manner. • Provide input to risk profiling and management on projects. • Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time. 	Section Engineer, Scotland Ref: SG/313 Type: Permanent		19/07/2010
	Your Key Activities include: • Set a high personal example of safety and environmental behaviour. • Supervise chainperson, assistant and site engineers. • Monitor the work under their control to ensure that any unsafe work conditions and non compliance with Company policies and procedures are promptly remedied. • Maintain good working relations with client / designer / RE, together with our supply chain. • Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques. • Ensure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works. Formally request any missing information in sufficient time to allow the programme to proceed without delay. • Ensure that works are accurately and clearly set out before work is programmed to commence. Allowing time for independent checking where required. • Communicate with foremen and gangers to ensure full understanding of information provided. • Confirm in writing, on the same day, any verbal instructions received from the client / designer / RE’s staff and ensure that comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works are maintained. • Arrange formal checking of setting out and ensure check request form is completed. • Ensure reasonable survey book standards and daily diaries are maintained by engineers. • Ensure that inspection and test plans are completed as required by the PMP / Specification, including a check of dimension accuracy and quality. • Prepare 4 weekly programmes in conjunction with the section foreman, coordinated with overall site programme and ensure necessary resources available with sub agent / agent. • Monitor 4 weekly programme, mark up progress for review at the weekly site review meeting. • Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works. • Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes/variations, subcontractors attendance, and records of work related discussions with client / designer / RE / project team. • Carry out material take off and requisitions as requested by sub agent / agent. • Ensure all delivery tickets are cost coded and passed to accounts dept. for processing. • Ensure that testing / sampling of materials is carried out as required by the specification. • Order materials and maintain register of all orders placed and confirmed. • Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time. 	Area Environment Officer, North West Ref: SG/314 Type: Permanent		19/07/2010
	In order to improve the level of environmental support provided to the business, we are currently looking to recruit an Environment Officer to cover the North West and North East of England Reporting to a Senior Environment Officer, the successful candidate will be part of the HSQE department environment team with responsibility primarily for activities covering the North West and North East of England. Travel throughout this region will be essential to this role with occasional overnight stays as appropriate. Key activities will include: • Communicating and promoting environment management ethos and concepts • Influencing and promoting best practice • Developing procedures, guidance, bulletins and alerts • Advising managers in the setting up, implementation and maintenance of environment management systems • Assisting with submissions, interviews and vendor evaluations • Developing and delivering environmental training • Carrying out regular audits and inspections • Incident investigation and reporting • Fostering good relationships with regulators, consultants and supply chain specialists Candidate Requirements Candidates will preferably have a degree in civil engineering, environment management or similar or a comparable formal qualification. They will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of the civil engineering industry, an understanding of the ISO14001 standard and an awareness of regulatory, legislative requirements. Most importantly however, candidates must demonstrate a genuine interest in environmental matters and a desire to improve the company’s environmental performance. 	Assistant Quantity Surveyor, South West Ref: SG/316 Type: Permanent		19/07/2010
	Swindon We are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work on valuations, measurement, sub contract and supplier accounts, periodic site costings, reconciliations. Your Key Activities include: • Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policies and report any standards on the site which are considered by you as inadequate. • Supervise chainman and / or trainee engineer / surveyor. • Ensure that sufficient and full information is available on drawings and sketches to set out the works in accordance with the programme and sequence of operations. • Communicate with foremen and gangers to ensure full understanding of information provided. • Provide accurate and clear setting out for works, before work is programmed to commence. Allowing time for independent checking where required. • Confirm in writing, on the same day, any verbal instructions received from the client / designer / RE’s staff. • Check the works during progress and on completion to ensure that the works has been constructed to the setting-out information provides. Report any non-conformance to the section engineer / sub-agent / senior surveyor. • Ensure that comprehensive records of all resources employed on additional works are maintained and submitted for signature within 24 hrs of work being carried out. • Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes / variations, subcontractors attendance, and records of work related discussions with client / designer / RE / project team. • Carry out site surveys for volume, design and record purposes. • Carry out the duties of equipment engineers and maintain a log of all equipment on site, ensuring that all transfers/off hire are properly documented. • Carry out independent setting out checks. • Establish bench marks and control markers as directed for setting out and survey purposes. • Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time. Candidate Requirements Your Qualifications and Experience should be: • Previous site experience, as a trainee or student. • Knowledge of Microsoft office, survey software and instruments. • Knowledge of Company policy on all matters relating to safety and environmental construction procedures and working methods relevant to workscope. • Qualified to ONC or graduate level of ICES/RICS (preferred) or equivalent knowledge.

Maintain material reconciliation figures for reporting in the weekly site review meeting. • Ensure that material delivery tickets are passed to the section engineer for cost coding. • Carry out testing / sampling of materials as required by the specification. • Provide assistance to the measurement department where required for example earthworks surveys. • Maintain survey books as required line manager. • Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works.
