By joining the Southern procurement team you will be tasked with delivering significant cash releasing savings through a considered challenge of customer demands coupled with strong negotiation across our supply base. Further commercial benefits will be levered through ongoing contract management.
Responsible for co-ordinating our procurement activity across a range of commodities (but with particular focus on consultancy and construction) the successful candidate will be accountable for a multi – million pound spend.
Comfortable with working in a changing environment, the successful candidate will need to use their own initiative to influence and persuade customers and colleagues alike.
Public sector experience would be beneficial as would familiarity with the NEC 3 suite of contractual documents. Naturally sustainable procurement techniques underpin our contracting methodology. CIPS membership is preferred. |

We require a field operative to work as part of the Suffolk team, working from our depot at Saxmundham. This will involve working with plant and equipment to deliver flood risk prevention, conservation and general maintenance in Suffolk. The ideal candidate will be physically fit and be prepared to work outdoors, previous experience of the building or plant industry would be ideal, however full training can be provided for the right candidate.
Position Specific Information
The applicant will need to live locally to the area, so transport is not an issue. A high standard of literacy and numeracy is required, as is a basic knowledge of IT. The post has a requirement for out of hours response and occasional out of area working throughout England and Wales as required. Working in teams is an essential requirement as well as the need to meet and communicate with the general public, customers and stakeholders. A full current driving licence is required.

Reporting to the Data and Information and Strategic Support Services Manager, the role includes a wide variety of responsibilities. You will provide a full administrative support and secretarial service including:

The role is important to support the effective working of the nuclear regulation team, who regulate nuclear sites in the northern half of England and Wales. Well organised and professional, you’ll be excellent at planning and prioritising your workload. You’ll also be a team player, with good communication skills to enable you to interact effectively with people at all levels both inside and outside the organisation.
The work is largely computer based, with some paper filing duties. You will need to be adaptable and willing to handle a variety of duties e.g. organising travel arrangements and meetings, managing spreadsheets and databases, recording and reporting station discharge information. You will often need to produce results to short timescales.
No prior nuclear knowledge is required, but you must be numerate, able to manipulate/transfer/check scientific numbers and to use Microsoft Word and Excel, and be willing to learn to use non-standard computer programs. Good writing skills and capable use of English required. |

They will need to draw on a good level of interpersonal and customer services skills to balance the development and maintenance of effective relationships with staff, team members and team leaders.
